West Coast Games

Being in the central time zone, I have to say games played West of the Rockies are not my favorite.  They start too late and finish waytoo late. And they seldom seem to play day games – whats up with that? Even as a kid I recall being frustrated as the game summary and box score never made it into the next day’s paper. Back in the day it made it hard to keep up with the team when they were on a West coast swing.  These days I just don’t like falling out of the rhythm of pre-game setup and post-game analysis that come with more “prime time” game times.  Starting a game at 9 or 9:30 just seems too late for me.

I guess its fair to point out that the Cubs as a rule tend to do very poorly on the West coast over the years. This year (like in so many other ways) is of course different as they go into tonight’s action with a 16-3 record against Western division teams.  But usually, we get manhandled out that way and who looks forward to that- especially at 11 or 12 o’clock at night?
