Opening Day at Wrigley Field

So far, the 2009 Chicago Cubs have seen two other teams celebrate their home openers, the Astros and today the Brewers. On Monday, the clouds will part, angels will sing, and (as Crane Kenney is known to put it) the “cathedral of baseball” will open a new season on the Northside.

Cubs tickets at StubHub!If you are feeling pangs of regret for not getting tickets, there is still hope! Checking StubHub today, there are still more than 3,000 seats available! They will cost you more than face value, but you’re going to fewer games this year anyway, right? My seating tips and views from every section will give you more to ponder.

Why StubHub? They are the Official Marketplace for MLB tickets. Unlike meeting someone from Craig’s List at the Taco Bell near Wrigley and handing over cash for what you hope are legit tickets, StubHub guarantees your purchase is legitimate safe from fraud. What’s not to like about that?

ParkForWrigley.comNow here’s a tip for anyone either going to the game or perhaps to another Wrigleyville venue to take in the opening day festivities. Buy your parking in advance from www.ParkForWrigley.com. Doing so will lock in a reasonable rate, taking the guesswork and jockeying out of the equation. Plus, the three sites available from ParkForWrigley are all a short walk from the Friendly Confines which can be a huge benefit. Why? Because you won’t have to fight the mass of bodies emptying into the street right in front of the park when you want to leave!

Ok, here’s my last opening day tip – and it is a critically important one. Dress warmly and in layers. 45 or 50 degrees may seem like a brisk springlike day, but sitting there for 3 hours can really make that chill settle in. You can get geniune Dunkin Donuts coffee at Wrigley and vendors patrol the stands selling hot chocolate too. Stay away from the beer as alcohol will chill you out too!

Go. Enjoy your Cubs Opening Day experience at Wrigley Field or in a nearby establishment! And of course go Cubs!
