Ted Lilly takes No-No into the 7th
The game time temperature was 36 degrees, rainy, wind off the lake at 10mph. Cubs starter Ted Lilly didn’t seem to mind. He tooka no-hitter into the 7th inning on what was obviously a pitchers day if it favored anyone at all.
Ted Lilly pitched a gem in pursuit of his 34th win as a Cub –  in front of 40,000+ sturdy fans at the home opener. He took a no-hitter into the 7th inning twice last year, and today gave up his first hit with one out in the 7th. It was a clean ‘tweener to break up the no-hit bid.
Left handed pitchers are a very precious commodity for any Major League club. The Cubs have one of the best, having won 32 games in his two seasons as a Cub to start this year.
