Batting practice photos

Batting practice has just concluded. It’s chilly and the guys were pretty bundled up but I was able to get a few photos.

My first MLB game was at Wrigley Field in 2004, watching the Cubs beat the Pirates, a very long way from Sydney Australia. I was pleased to see GREG MADDUX work his magic on the mound, and it is nice to be able to tell people that MADDUX was the first starting pitcher I got to see live. Australia has a good connection with the Cubs. At the moment we have four Aussies playing Minor League Baseball in the Cubs Farm System. They are: RYAN SEARLE, CODY HAMS, ADAM SPENCER, and SEAN WILLIAMS. Aussie EARL BRYNE made it to AAA with the Cubs. The day an Aussie wears a Cubs uniform at the Major League level will be a very special day, as to date no Aussie has yet played MLB with the Cubs. Perhaps soon we can celebrate some history when one of the Aussies mentioned above gets a shot at the big leagues! Nicholas R.W. Henning – Australian Baseball Author
